Purging Pollies

I did it. I took the plunge and purged the Pollies. I purloined those Pop-tarts of plastic from my girls' closet and popped them in the...man, I wish there was a word for “garbage” that started with a “p.” Oh, well. I popped them in the garbage. I can’t begin to tell you how great it felt to pour that tub of Polly Pockets into the trash. As a sea of rubber dresses, mis-matched shoes and random legs-without-bodies flowed into the box, I felt a new sense of freedom. Yes! This packrat CAN purge!

I know it’s just a baby step. I know I will never be like my friend Laura who also has 3 kids but manages to have an empty attic and actually park her van IN the garage. My packrat genes are just too strong. My hope is that those genes dilute with each successive generation. A peek in my girls’ room would dispute this theory, but I haven’t given up hope yet. There’s still time, right? Baby steps! For now, I’m off to tackle the rest of the toys ...

I am so with you on the polly's!! We only had a few and after finding little shoes etc on the floor- I said no polly's!! Especially now with an infant- I have to have the "baby radar" for any small items etc. It does feel good to purge and get rid of stuff!

You did it!!!!! I hope you threw it in the recycle bin with all that plastic. HA HA. Can polly pockets be recyled? Maybe I need to do an outright ban on Polly pockets before they ever enter my house.

Glad you did it.

I bet you could recycle them in CA! I don't think you can around here... Yes, Bethany, you need to ban them. I promise, as Adelee's Auntie, to NEVER send her Polly Pockets for her birthday! :)
