After discovering an old Oscar statue trinket from Hollywood while going through my closet, Elise decided she wanted a "movie theme" for her golden birthday; we figured, "What's more golden than an Oscar?" A few days later Gordon and I were killing time in Garden Ridge and we found movie-themed plates and all the sparkle-curtains in the 80% off clearance bin! God is so kind! :) So with our Oscar friend and some Popcorn Cupcakes we figured out how to make on the Family Fun website, our scene was set...
We hooked up Augie's work projector screen in the living room, transforming it into our Birthday Theater for our screening of The Adventures of Ociee Nash.
Here's the birthday star!

The Red Carpet...

The premiere attendees...

Happy Birthday, Elise!

Hey, look at that! The floor of our theater was a mess, just like in real life! Those girls must have really wanted everything to feel authentic! :) Seriously! I did not stage this picture! This is how I found it!

Elise, thanks for being patient and waiting until August to celebrate your birthday. I can't believe you are 10 years old -- double digits! I remember the day we brought you home from the hospital, just like it was yesterday. You are growing into a beautiful young woman! We love you!!!! Happy Birthday!

What a fun idea!
You are so clever Heather- (haha that rhymes) What a great idea! I remember you talking about her party when we were up there, it turned out so cute! So fun! Love you & miss you!!!!
Thanks, ladies! It was a fun party to do -- and very easy! You can't get much easier than popcorn and coke as your snack, and cupcakes for dessert! :) (No more 5-hour Little Einsteins cakes for me, Sarah! ha ha!)
So cute. How fun. Yeah I like when they pick simple things. But you make everything look easy. Those cupcakes would probably take me 5 hours
What an awesome idea Heather!! I cant believe she is 10...that how old I was when we moved to Virginia..how weird is that! Love and miss you all!
it has been 'forever' since i have loked at your blog! Loved the Golden birthday and the popcorn cupcakes - how did you do those? Lucas had his golden birthday this year as well-- the invitations were made like the golden ticket from Willie Wonka.... and Em had her golden birthday in July - at a bowling alley and everyone was asked to wear gold - Uncle Terry and I wore gold lame vests/jackets from "A Chorus LIne" finale!! HA HA!! I have friends who never heard of "golden" birthdays -- and look - 3 in our family in one year!! I am looking at the pictures of your kids and thinking - who are those children!? Has it been three years? Too long... love you, aunt suse
