Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving was a small, quiet affair this year, but still every bit as enjoyable as the loud and large holidays we've had in the past. After spending the morning baking pies and watching the parade, we spent the day at my mom and dad's. There were only 9 of us, so we fit around Mom's dining room table - kids and all! Since I'm from a family of 9, you can see why it was a bit out of the norm!

Gordon and Claire were busy in the little kitchen while Augie carved the bird. Mom roasted a picture-perfect turkey!

I don't know how Augie does this so perfectly. Whenever I attempt to carve a roasted bird, it ends up looking like someone attacked it with a hacksaw!

Before...

During...

And I missed the After shot! Better luck next year!

As we went around the table and shared things for which we are grateful, I was reminded again and again of God's faithfulness to each of us. It made my heart glad to hear Claire express thankfulness for the Cross, Gordon for his fuzzy, flat-tag DeeDee (otherwise known as the often-washed and much-loved blue octopus), and Elise for the many clothes she's been blessed with by neighbors and friends. I'm so encouraged that they see God's hand in all of those provisions -- from a beloved toy, to the clothing they wear, to the Cross on which He took our blame.

I am grateful for God's amazing provision, for His care and His kindness, and His steadfast love. I am grateful for my wonderful husband who loves me with words and deeds, for my children who bring joy to each day, and for my family -- those near and those far away -- though we couldn't be with all of you this Thanksgiving, you were in our thoughts throughout the day! We love you!

Pretty pics. Gordon still loves Dee dee huh. That is so cute. That little guy is going to have to go in the hope chest once he does outgrown it. I am looking at your apple pie and feeling sad....you make the best apple pie, I have never tasted or seen better looking. Love you
